Philadelphia actually has a good number of restaurants to chose from that are conceived or operated by a number of Iron Chefs including Bobby’s Burger Palace, Morimoto, and the various spots by Philadelphia’s own Jose Garces. Beyond the initial novelty of being able to say that you ate food from an Iron Chef, Jose Garces has never failed to impress me with his creative takes on classic dishes and the sheer range of styles that he’s been able to take under his culinary portfolio.
That’s why I was excited to find out that for today only, between 1 PM and 3 PM, Garces will be participating in the guest chef series by Pat’s King of Steaks in South Philly and selling now signature “JG Cheesesteak” to promote his Think Local, Give Local benefit this Friday at the Loews Hotel.
Update: Chef Jose Garces has posted a picture of the beautiful steak via Instagram. You can see it below:

The cheesesteak itself will be nothing less than an umami lovers wet dream with provolone fondue, To-jo wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, and black truffle atop Pat’s rib eye steak and roll. Along with eating a one-of-a-kind cheesesteak that’ll only be $10, one lucky customer who comes to today’s event will get two tickets to the Garces Foundation’s Think Local, Give Local event this Friday which will benefit Philadelphia’s local immigrant population with various health and social resources. You can find out more about The Garces Foundation and their efforts to assist the Philadelphia immigrant community here.
The Garces Foundation’s Think Local, Give Local benefit will be this Friday, March 18th, at the Loews Hotel located at 1200 Market Street from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Tickets for the event can be purchased here. The event will include an enormouse amount Philadelphia’s best chefs from both inside and out of the Garces collection including chefs from Cheu Noodle Bar, Brauhaus Shmidtz, The Fat Ham, Sbraga, and Village Whiskey (be sure to seek me out as well as I’ll be eating everything in sight).
